We met on Tinder. We’re not ashamed!

Well, we reconnected on Tinder, but actually met 9 months prior as passing colleagues at Agganis Arena at Boston University.

The first conversation we ever had on the infamous dating app quickly steered towards The Lord of the Rings.

And the rest was history.

Our second date was at Coolidge Corner Theatre, an Art Deco independent cinema originally built as a church in 1906, to view that year’s Oscar Nominated Live-Action Short Films. (We held hands).

A week later, we watched the 86th Academy Awards at a friend’s Oscar party for our third date. (Krissen won the ballot).

And on our fourth date, we spent the night in and watched Scoop.

Movie-watching has been a constant throughout our relationship. Since we met, we’ve watched every Best Picture nominated film, hosted our own annual Oscar Party, and own a combined collection of over 900 movies (not including television shows and other miscellaneous releases).

Most of our date nights consist of a trip to the nearest theatre (at least in a pre-COVID world) and we spend lots of time rewatching our favorites on TV. We speak in quotes and references and have generally similar cinematic opinions.

In Summer 2020, we decided with renewed effort to own every Best Picture Oscar Winner and completed the currently 92 film collection.

Now our watch begins!
